Chateau Montrose Saint-Estèphe

Chateau Montrose Saint-Estèphe
France

Médoc

Château Montrose is one of the leading properties of St.Estéphe, and produces some of the longest-lived wines in the Médoc. Montrose, which has been owned by Jean-Louis Charmolue since 1962, is located in the east of the appellation, just north of the hamlet of Marbuzet, on a gravel knoll only 800 metres from the Gironde estuary. The proximity of the estuary ensures a microclimate that protects against frost, and the vines, which lie on deep clay-gravel soils, benefit from a south-easterly aspect.

Montrose's wine is typically a blend of 65%Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot 25% and 10%Cabernet Franc and is matured in oak barriques (30% new) for 18 months.

Montrose wines are traditionally deeply coloured, austere and powerful when young, yet possess superb ageing potential, and when mature are quintessential St.Estèphe clarets. Montrose is classified as a 2ème Cru Classé.

Last year, Montrose 2003 was the most highly sought after wine in the vintage. In 2004, it exhales aromas of blackcurrant, red fruit and cedar with spicy notes. Its ageing potential is assured by a great structure and very elegant tannins. As it is one of the most demanded lords of Bordeaux, hurry to get one!

Cisplatino Tannat Merlot

Cisplatino
Uruguay
Tannat Merlot

unique red wine out of Uruguay showing good structure and fruit at an outstanding price !

Progreso Coastal Region of Origin Estate Bottled Fine Red Wine Varietals Blend
Cisplatino is a beautiful wine made mainly from Tannat , Uruguay's national grape, perfectly blended with Merlot. It has just a small toasted touch that gives it a special character. The fruit is very present and in the mouth is a very tempting wine with great aromas. The strong structure of Tannat finds its balance in the harmonisation with Merlot. A wine to enjoy immediately after being released.

CHARACTERISTICS
COLOUR:
Deep Ruby
AROMA:
delicate and concentrated. Plums, nuts, spices and young mushrooms
FLAVOUR:
kind structure but full bodied. Good density in the mouth. Mild smokey flavours of cranberries, blackberries and raisins.

Perfect with all meats, lamb, pasta and mild cheese. Very good with Uruguayan "empanadas".
We suggest serving it around 18º C.
