Chateau De Rolland

Chateau de Rolland
Bordeaux
Sauternes

he vineyard of Château de Rolland is divided in three rural districts of the Gironde county: Barsac, Preignac and Pujols-sur-Ciron, which are located approximately 6 kilometres (4 US miles) from one another. Sauternes wine is produced in Barsac and Preignac; the dry white wine Bordeaux Blanc Sec in Barsac; the dry white wine Graves Blanc Sec and the red wine Graves Rouge are produced in Pujols-sur-Ciron.

Due to its proximity to the Garonne River, the terroir of Barsac and Pujols-sur-Ciron has very fertile and sandy soils enriched by alluvia from the river.
Specific information about the terroir is shown in the table below.

Sauternes wine is a sweet white wine that is a result from the "Noble Rot" attack on grapes. Sauternes wine is a perfect complement to your first course with foie gras, asparagus, fish with sauce (turbot-plaice-salmon); also to meals with roasted chicken; to cheese and especially Roquefort and goat cheese from the Pyrenees; to desserts like apple and figs tart, dried fruits, fruit and melon sorbet; as an apéritif with your guests.
