Chateau Haut-Sarpe

Chateau Haut-Sarpe
Bordeaux
Saint Emilion

The family of Joseph Janoueix, owners of Château Haut-Sarpe, a Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classé, is one of the great household names of the Libourne area; they are as well known for making wine as for being wine merchants.

Awarded a gold medal at the Universal Exhibition in Paris in 1867, today it remains worthy of the efforts invested and the success obtained by its owner at the time, Baron Henri de Foussat. Moreover it was during this era that the Baron, encouraged by his success, undertook the renovation of the château and its gardens.

This edifice of great style, with its central pavilion inspired by the famous Trianon, has a wondrous appearance; in keeping with the spirit of the Grand Cru Classé wine, very evocative of the Saint-Emilion wine-making boom at the beginnings of the 20 th century and of the tradition and quality that the children and grand-children of Marie-Antoinette and Joseph Janoueix symbolise, today just like yesteryear.
